The Chic Black : less space, more functions.
From the beginning, the owner said they wanted a resting and living area where they would be safe from the sun and the rain. The owner also said that they wanted to bring in their favorite cactuses. From what the owner said, the designer thought using grey and black would be a great idea to harmonized this garden to the house. Using carefully selected materials helps make the garden looks bright and light. Even though it is quite a small space, the functions of this garden are not limited.
Before, this space is an open area of this townhome so it was easy to demolish the old building. And as this townhome is situated at the corner, we have more space at the side of the building to play with.
‘Cactus lover corner’ the cactus house is a special corner where the owner spends lots of their time here. There is a wooden shelve for the plants to be on display. We used a transparent roof along with the grey wall made of bricks that were carefully assembled. The transparent roof allows natural light to come through so the cactus can enjoy their sunbathing. A white sink is fitted in a small corner so one can have their hand cleaned after they are done with the outdoor activity or gardening.
The resting area beside the house is small and simple but packed with essential functions. The deck is elevated from the ground lead to the shelter. Inside the shelter, long the wooden bench, marble-look table, high ceiling, lighting, trellis roof and the use of the lines makes this space feels spacious. As a result, this shelter is one of the owner favorites as it is not so hot and when sitting in here.
Backside resting area. This is the view from the wash area. The elevated deck is used as a terrace that connects to the house. This small resting area uses a transparency roof to make it feels spacious. The wall with a special pattern and stripe divides the resting space from the wash area.
The water tank-pump corner was moved from the back to the front of the house so that the wash area has more space. The perforated sheet functions as a gate and decorating this corner.
