When the garden owner's goal was to create a versatile space that could serve as both a welcoming area for guests and a relaxation spot for employees, combined with inspiration from the company's main business related to coal mining, gingsite1994 "The Charcoal Mine" presented a fun challenge for Ginggaanbai. The aim was to design and create a space that met the needs of garden users while complementing the existing architecture's bold, dark structure.
The main concept of the garden, "The Charcoal Mine," is to reflect the uniqueness of a coal mine. The garden's design incorporates terraced forms found in mines, layering them to enhance the area's appeal and continuity. The primary color used is a deep black, representing the color of coal, which blends well with the original building.
The garden is divided into two main zones, each with a specific purpose. The guest reception area is designed to welcome company guests in a calm and elegant atmosphere. A central fountain adds a relaxing ambiance, with wooden benches placed around it to provide a cool, comfortable setting.
Another important area is the employee dining and relaxation space, designed as a multipurpose area where employees can eat, relax, or even work outdoors. The flexible layout allows the space to be adapted to various needs.
The garden design utilizes horizontal sightlines and terraced steps throughout, ensuring continuity and connection between different areas, creating a sense of spaciousness and unity.
The handwashing basin is cleverly hidden beside a long bar table, providing convenience for handwashing after meals without disrupting the overall beauty of the garden.
An additional point of interest is the garden entrance, featuring Chinese motifs favored by the garden owner. Ginggaanbai adjusted the color and reduced the details to match the garden's overall theme, adding uniqueness and privacy to the area.
The garden "The Charcoal Mine" is a perfect blend of beauty and functionality. It not only reflects the company's identity but also serves as a practical, serene place for both guests and employees. This creative design shows that a garden can be more than just a landscaped area; it can become a significant part of the organizational experience.
