Inspired by the gentle arrival of the season’s very first raindrop, The First Drop marks the beginning of a new cycle of life. This show garden, designed by Ginggaanbai, was presented in the Master Garden zone at the Greater Bay Area Flower Show 2025 in China, with generous support from Shenshui Ecological & Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. Celebrating both its thoughtful design and meaningful concept, The First Drop was honored with the Golden Award, one of the highest recognitions at the event. At the heart of the garden lies a quiet yet profound narrative of renewal. The first drop of rain, though soft and subtle, awakens the earth—stirring both nature and the human spirit into motion once more. It marks a moment of awakening, of growth, and the return of life in its most vibrant form. Ginggaanbai crafted this space to offer visitors a true moment of pause—a sanctuary not just for the body, but for the eyes and mind. The garden’s circular ripple-patterned flooring takes its cue from the gentle expansion that occurs when a single drop touches the water’s surface. These concentric lines guide visitors toward a circular seating area, thoughtfully designed to invite conversation, togetherness, and celebration. In a quieter corner of the garden, a smaller resting space awaits beneath a vertically striped shading structure. These lines mimic the gentle fall of rain, allowing filtered light to pass through and create an atmosphere of soft calm and airy tranquility. The Groove Shading acts as both a central design element and a visual anchor within the space. Nearby, a tiered waterfall has been composed with careful layering, offering visitors an ever-present sense of movement and flow—visible from every perspective. It brings the garden to life in a way that feels both seamless and serene. Bright, celebratory blooms have been carefully selected to reflect the joy of a new season. Whether entering from the main path or a secondary route, visitors walk upon the same gentle ripple motif—symbolizing the interconnected, ever-continuing cycle of nature. The First Drop is more than a garden. It is a space where stillness meets vibrancy in perfect harmony. Every detail has been mindfully considered, allowing each visitor to experience the beauty of nature’s rhythms and embrace the grace of a new beginning.
